Debi Taylor

Debi grew up on a 300-acre Girl Scout camp, where an early connection to nature, animals, and the outdoors shaped a lifelong appreciation for the environment and thoughtful land stewardship.

She began her career with one of Grand Rapids’ oldest family-owned landscape design and garden centers, quickly advancing from garden sales into the coordination and management of complex landscape installations. During this time, she earned her certification as a Green Industry Professional through the Michigan Nursery and Landscape Association and continued expanding her expertise through ongoing industry training and conferences.

Her dedication and growing experience led to an opportunity with a respected landscape firm led by an owner involved in the design of the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. This role provided invaluable experience in design development, installation practices, and industry software, further refining her technical and creative foundation.

Committed to lifelong learning, particularly in design, sustainability, hardscaping, drainage, irrigation, and lighting, Debi founded Design Natura LLC “design by nature” to bring together her experience, creativity, and collaborative approach to outdoor design.

​

Her process is rooted in listening closely, understanding how clients live, and translating those needs into thoughtful, functional, and beautiful outdoor environments. She works collaboratively with homeowners, contractors, and installation professionals to ensure each project is executed with clarity, care, and attention to detail.

Outside of her work, Debi enjoys time with her family and her beloved Bernedoodle, Raven. She also enjoys tending to her own landscape, fly fishing, cooking, traveling, playing cards with friends, and appreciating good bourbon with a great cigar.
